Musical Kids Class

Music Classes for Children

Ages 6 months and up

 Curriculum of all classes is based on SUZUKI(ear training), ORFF SCHULWERK(playing of melodic and rhythmic instruments-xylophones, glockenspiels, etc.) DALCROZE(movement) AND KODALY(singing and rhythmic patterns). These men were contemporaries of each other; each perfected not a method but a teaching and learning approach.  Our classes’ success and uniqueness lies in the incorporation of the blending of their approaches as many of their approaches overlap/blend.

Children are placed in classes based on musical abilities and experiences rather than age.

Attendance-Make-Up Classes and Tuition

Parents and students are expected to make a commitment to consistently attend throughout the year.  Because classes are small(up to 8) enrollment is limited; most importantly, the children’s success is definitely related to weekly attendance and interaction with their classmates.   The class can only progress without the reteaching of  missed lessons.

There is no reduction in tuition for missed classes.  Tuition is payable at the first lesson of each semester and is non-refundable.

2. *   I ask parents to refrain from engaging in conversation with other parents during class time.

1. *    Siblings who attend must be registered

2. *NO TOYS, FOOD OR DRINK ARE ALLOWED IN THE MUSIC ROOM.  It can be very disturbing and distracting to other children if they can not “Share” your items.

Disclaimer of Liability

Parents should recognize that the teacher, Karen Kay Reed, cannot and does not supervise students who arrive early or who remain after lessons.  In particular those areas outside of the piano and immediate teaching area such as but not limited to front yard, back yard, porches, steps, etc.  are not supervised by the teacher.  Parents of students are encourages to attend all lessons and supervise their children immediately before and after lessons.

The studio of Karen Kay Reed disclaims responsibility for a harm, injury or accident experienced by a student, relative or friend of student on Karen Kay Reed property.
